National Library Week is observed across India every year from 14th to 20th November with the aim of fostering reading habits and creating awareness about the vital role of libraries in education. The origin of this celebration can be traced to Shri Ayyanki Venkata Ramanaiah, widely known as the Architect of the Public Library Movement in India. He convened the All-India Library Conference on 12th November 1912 in Madras, which eventually led to the establishment of the Indian Library Association (ILA).
The ILA later declared 14th November as National Library Day to mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Since 1968, National Library Week has been celebrated across the country with great enthusiasm to promote the joy of reading and lifelong learning.
In commemoration of this occasion, our school organised a variety of library-based competitions for students from Classes III to XII. These activities were thoughtfully planned to stimulate students’ interest in reading, enhance their thinking skills, and encourage creativity.
